Are we on the brink of a dark era of woke violence?
The narrative of victimhood and the calls for ‘direct action' provide the ideological ammunition to justify violence by trans, eco, and anti-racist progressives.
In recent times, progressive activists (Trans/LGBT, Environmental, Anti-racists, etc) have been rapidly escalating their narrative of victimhood. I believe we should be concerned about what is being promoted by progressives who lead more young people from “non-violent” activism towards what they call ‘direct action’. But I also believe we shouldn’t despair.
In my personal experience as a former young lefty, I have seen how this escalation has been developing for many years. Up until I was around 25, I considered myself quite left-wing. I used to attend meetings for young socialists as a teenager. I played in punk rock bands, and I refused to engage with points of view coming from “the right”. Things changed quite abruptly 5 years after I moved to London. I jokingly tell lefty friends that after a serious bicycle accident – in which I cracked my helmet – I probably caused myself brain damage which resulted in my newfound interest in understanding economics. They don’t like the implications of my story. In reality, what changed my mind so radically was my reading of Frederic Bastiat’s The Law and Henry Hazlitt’s Economics in One Lesson. These two books set me on a straight course towards strongly rejecting progressive ideology.
Moreover, I remember quite vividly the day I realised I had ceased to believe the left-wing narrative of victimhood. It was the 8th of April 2013; I got a call from a friend inviting me to grab a couple of cans of beer and go to Brixton. I was about to accept the invitation when it suddenly hit me like thunder: my friend was inviting me to celebrate the death of Margaret Thatcher. I instantly felt nauseous and explained I was disgusted by the idea.
Later that day, the news had pictures and videos of lefties in military-style jackets and the vile Fat White Family band posing next to banners saying “The bitch is dead”. I had met them in previous months and knew they were not nice people.
What happened that day greatly encouraged me to distance myself from what I had started to see as an ideology promoting real violence.
A decade later, the progressives have continued on the path towards extremism. Visit Manor House at night and you will find venues full of the paradoxically self-identifying anti-fascists wearing Extinction Rebellion and Transexual flag pins as well as patches reading “the only good tory is a dead tory” – or the more inclusive “kill all fascists”. People who cannot be excused for being too young to be so dumb can be seen wearing Killdren t-shirts – a name combining the words ‘kill’ and ‘children’. Killdren are another talentless punk band which encapsulates the radical progressive mentality and mental state. Take for instance the lyrics of one of their songs. I’ll let you guess the title:
Tory genocide is the perfect outcome
Kill Tory scum before they kill you
Kill Tory scum! Kill Tory scum!
Even if it's your Dad or your Mum
Kill Tory scum! Kill Tory scum!
Of course, not all lefties are extremists. Some are amongst the most compassionate and considerate people I know. Yet too many progressives are afflicted by a pathologically exaggerated sense of “compassion”. Increasingly, they are turning this fake compassion towards themselves - a sign of their intense self-hatred. In the last couple of years and even prior to the pandemic, we saw progressives trying to bring attention to their plight for “social and cultural change” through infantile and tantrum-like behaviour. We have seen them glueing themselves to the ground, throwing soup at paintings, and more disturbingly, tricking down-syndrome boys to dress as extravagant prostitutes, teaching primary school children how to perform anal sex, or even performing rituals of penitence for being white by crying desperately and kissing the shoes of black people.
The escalation in their rhetoric is now starting to get noticed. Take for instance the reaction to the recent killing of three 9-year-old children and 3 adults at the hands of a transexual progressive in Nashville, Tennessee. This is perhaps the most extreme case, but progressives seem to be ready to justify the violence as a reaction to the 'genocide’ of transsexuals.
Like their predecessors, the German Red Army Faction, which originated in middle-class student protests in the late 1960s and became a murderous terrorist group by the early 1970s — today’s progressives cannot alter reality no matter how hard they try. This eventual realisation, combined with their maladaptive expectations drives the most radical amongst them to despair and turns them to violence. Violence is not something they want but is something they feel compelled towards because they believe that those who they see as their enemies have inflicted violence in the first place.
The Red Army Faction (RAF) was a direct-action armed group. They believed they were fighting for the liberation of West Germany from old nazis, and in solidarity with the “revolutionary effort” in Vietnam. They were initially financed by communists and became murderous terrorists in a few years. Yet they remained quite infantile in many ways. On one occasion, their 2nd generation “army” were all arrested because one of the members – who was cleaning his gun – accidentally shot a bullet through the bathroom floor of the flat in which they all lived. One of their women was sent in a mission to explain what had happened. Their neighbour had not even noticed that a bullet had pierced through his ceiling whilst he was busy watching football on TV, but upon being informed, decided to call the police and the entire terrorist cell was then arrested.
The RAF’s downfall however was mostly due to later incidents in which they decided to bomb and kill several American servicemen stationed in West Germany and for killing for no other reason than to signal their anger against “White-Western imperialism”. The contrast in their capacity for killing and the infantile inability to understand the consequences of their actions is what makes direct action groups so dangerous.
But what adds to my current concern is that, unlike their predecessors, the new progressives have gained the wide support of our Western governments and institutions. Academic progressives have campaigned for years and have achieved changes to curricula in educational settings, national legislation, and in workplace regulations. They have promoted the creation of divisive “group-based” rights which can only be obtained by claiming membership of certain groups and which divide society into perceptibly opposing categories (race, gender, age, status, etc). And they now staff our public institutions and even our parliaments.
Below I will cite some of the most egregious national and international examples of how our public institutions are siding with the potentially dangerous progressives:
Governments around the world cracked down on peaceful anti-lockdown protests to contain the virus but allowed and supported BLM protests in the UK and in the US. The media even claimed that BLM protests could not spread the virus.
Last week, a group of British lawyers stated that they would not prosecute climate activists due to the climate emergency. This follows a British judge praising criminal environmental activists
“Conservative” ministers have come out in support for of Transexual indoctrination Although in the last few days, the Education Minister has had to perform a screeching U-turn because parents are angry after finding out that Transexual activist teachers are pushing transsexualism to children in schools.
The Scottish Nationalists made Humza Yousaf their new leader despite the fact he likes to rant about ‘whites’ in an overwhelmingly white country.
Yousaf is also set to push for gender law reform to give transexuals, including male rapists, the right to be imprisoned amongst women despite safety concerns
British school age children are fearful of voicing their opinion on critical race theory at schools.
Christian women are being arrested by British police for thinking the wrong thoughts near abortion clinics
Posie Parker – who I recently praised for her courage – was demonised by the press and the New Zealand government prior to an event in that country, at which she was meant to speak. The event was hijacked by violent transexual activists and the police did not defend women at the event. A 70-year old woman was attacked by a progressive man who repeatedly punched her in the face and fractured her eye-socket.
The president of the United States made bizarre jokes about chocolate chips and “cool looking kids” during the opening of his address to the nation after a transexual female broke into a school and killed three 9-year-old children and three adults. The American president later laughed and joked again when asked whether he thought the killing of the children had anything to do with them being Christians.
In regard to this recent mass shooting incident, the Transexual Resistance Network – an extremist group which invites people to “do literally anything to oppose trans genocide” – clarified that although it was tragic that children were shot and killed, “the second and more complex tragedy” was that the murderous transexual had “no other way to be seen than to lash out by taking the lives of others”.
Similarly, environmental extremists such as Extinction Rebellion, Stop Oil and others, have escalated their rhetoric claiming that if we do not stop people from taking planes and going on holiday we are complicit in “killing our planet”. Some in Germany have started calling for a new Green Army Faction to deal with those who do not want to listen. Extinction Rebellion provide “advice to young people as they face annihilation”
Articles published in the Guardian with titles such as "We need more violent protests in the fight against climate change" by Jason Hickel in September 2021, have had to be removed but as recently as last month, the Guardian has published pieces with titles such as “Today’s climate activist ‘criminals’ are tomorrow’s heroes” written by the direct action advocate George Monbiot.
I find it interesting that the recurrence of the word ‘Violence’ throughout the last 500 years, as per Google Ngram, shows that the last two times we used that word as much were the years 1641 and 1789. The late 60s — when the New Left terrorists such as RAF emerged — is dwarfed by the current incidence of the word today.
But not everything is doom and gloom. As I have stated in this article and throughout my Substack already, the truth is that progressives and all other manner of utopians trying to reshape society to their own image will fail again and again.
It would be wrong to fall into the same despair displayed by the progressives. And it would be worse to stand against them with violence or repression. A much better way to confront them is to clearly understand why impulsiveness and infantile anxiety are not the answer to our problems and apply this knowledge to our daily lives. We will not extinguish the anger of these overgrown children by becoming infantile ourselves, but we will, if we become mature enough, be able to heal together in future generations.
In the meantime, I would suggest you buy a copy of The Law and gift it to your closest progressive. Here’s a quote from the book which I think will shake their brains as it shook mine:
Reading about your bike's accident, the killdren, the Magic RAF's bullet, and much more relevant facts, make me feel as if I would be watching a very good movie. I'm already hoping for your next analysis!
